FIELD: plastic working of metals. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of undercutting layer of material on surface of heat exchanger by acute angle relative to said surface; bending up formed fin and straightening it at moving cutting member. Undercutting and bending up are realized stepwise at successive passes of cutting member. Undercutting angle may be increased at each step from first step to last one. Straightening of formed fin may be performed during last step of undercutting. Operations of undercutting, bending up and straightening may be realized by means of rotary cutting tool carrying cutting members with possibility of step undercutting of material layer. Rotation axis of toll is inclined in direction to blank motion relative to tool by angle determined according to formula given in description of invention. It is possible to make finning whose height is not limited by possibilities of known methods and to make fins thickened towards their base. ^ EFFECT: possibility of making fins with enlarged range of their heights and with thickness increased towards their base. ^ 4 cl, 1 ex, 5 dwg, 1 tbl |
