PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube is provided to achieve improved drop characteristics of a mask frame and a shadow mask by forming a cut portion around a mask frame welding portion. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube comprises a funnel as a rear glass; a panel coupled to the funnel, wherein the panel has an inner surface on which a phosphor screen is formed; an electron gun mounted in a neck portion of the funnel so as to emit electron beams; a deflection yoke for deflecting electron beams; a shadow mask for selecting colors of electron beams; and a mask frame(11) where the shadow mask is coupled. The mask frame has a shadow mask welding portion(15) where a cut portion(20) is formed at least in one direction. The cut portion is spaced apart from the shadow mask welding portion by a predetermined interval.
