METHOD FOR REGISTERING A BUDDY LIST IN AN INSTANT MESSAGE SERVICE, ESPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH TRANSMITTING AND REGISTERING A BUDDY LIST TO THE OTHER SIDE INDIVIDUALLY OR BY GROUPS

PURPOSE: A method for registering a buddy list in an IM(Instant Message) service is provided to enable a subscriber to transmit and register his/her buddy list individually or by groups so that the other side can create a buddy list without the necessity of executing buddy registration one by one. CONSTITUTION: If the subscriber of the first terminal(10a) drives the IM service program of his/her terminal(10a) and notifies an IM server(50) of his/her present state(S402), the IM server(50) responds to the state notification of the first subscriber(S404). The first subscriber selects a desired buddy list and transmits the selected buddy list and a buddy registration request to the second subscriber terminal(10b) through the IM server(50)(S406). The second subscriber responds to the buddy registration request of the first subscriber(S408). The second subscriber selects all or a part of the buddy list transmitted from the first subscriber terminal(10a), and makes a buddy registration request to the IM server(50)(S410). The IM server(50) adds and registers the requested buddy list to the second subscriber's buddy list DB(S412), and responds to the buddy registration request(S414).
