The invention relates to a device for locating seats and advertising brands or items on seats in enclosed spaces, in particular enclosures such as theatres, cinemas, auditoriums, restaurants, night-clubs or similar interior spaces. The inventive device consists of an element which comprises a photoluminescent means on one portion of the surface thereof and which is intended to be disposed on the headrest or any other part of the surface of a seat in an enclosure. In various embodiments of the invention, the aforementioned element comprises a cover, a cushion, a patch, a label, or a fabric print or similar. The invention also relates to a method of locating seats and advertising brands or items on seats in enclosed spaces. The inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: placing the above-mentioned device directly on the headrest or any other part of the surface of a seat in an enclosed space; exposing the device to ambient light for a pre-determined period of time; an d turning off the ambient light, the photoluminiscent part of the device and/or seat being covered by the spectator sitting thereon. In this way, a spectator entering the enclosed space can easily see any unoccupied seats or the advertising for brands or items on said unoccupied seats, using the visual indication of the occupancy or non-occupancy of the seat or the glow from the brand or item by means of the photoluminescent means comprising a distinctive sign, brand or symbol on the headrest or any other part of the surface of the seat.
