PURPOSE: A device and a method for automatically controlling a receiving mode of a terminal are provided to mount a sensor for sensing a degree of contact of a user to a terminal, and to convert a receiving mode, depending on whether the mounted sensor is operated, thereby being favorable to an important call. CONSTITUTION: A sensor(210) outputs the first logical sensing signal when a user is contacted with a terminal, and outputs the second logical sensing signal if the user is not contacted with the terminal. A controller(220) generates a bell output driving signal in case of the second logical sensing signal, and generates a vibration driving signal in case of the first logical sensing signal. A bell output unit(230) outputs a bell sound when the bell output driving signal is received. A vibration unit(240) vibrates when the vibration driving signal is received.
