POLYESTER CORD AND USAGE THEREOF FOR RUNFLAT TIRE FOR IMPROVING INTERFACIAL STRENGTH OF POLYESTER CORD IN RUBBER ON ELEVATED TEMPERATURE

PURPOSE: A polyester cord and a usage thereof for a runflat tire are provided to increase interfacial strength between a polyester surface and an adhesive agent/an elastomer on the high temperature according to thermal accumulation that is a main cause of damaging the tire. CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic radial runflat tire(10) is composed of a tread; a belt structure(14) having at least two belt plies; a carcass(21) having two sidewalls(16,18); two beads; at least one radial carcass ply; an underlay disposed selectively between the carcass and the belt structure; an overlay(28) arranged selectively between the tread and the belt structure; and at least one wedge insert(40a,40b,42a,42b) formed at each side wall. At least one component of the tire has at least one reinforcing polyester cord. In forming the reinforcing polyester cord, a cord is obtained by twisting a plurality of polyester yarns and then treated by a water-dispersible solution containing poly epoxides. And then, the cord is treated by a water-soluble RFL(Resorcinol-Formaldehyde-Latex) containing resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, styrene-butadiene copolymer latex, Vinylpyridine-styrene-butadiene terpolymer latex, and blocking isocyanate.
