PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simplify the number of manufacturing processes, thereby reducing a manufacturing cost and enhancing yield. CONSTITUTION: A gate pattern includes a gate line formed on a substrate and a gate electrode(106) of a TFT(Thin Film Transistor). The first insulating layer(181) exposes an upper surface of the gate pattern. An active layer(114) is overlapped with the gate electrode. The second insulating layer(150) is interposed between the active layer and the gate electrode. A data line(104) is crossed with the gate line and a source electrode(108) is connected to the data line and a source region(114S) of the active layer. An interfacial insulating layer(136) is interposed between the gate line and the data line. A data pattern includes a drain electrode(110) connected to a drain region(114D) of the active layer. A pixel electrode(122) is isolated to the gate pattern by the first insulating layer and connected to the drain electrode.
