PURPOSE: A printer having a digital cassette function, a recording medium storing a driver and a viewer for implementing the same, and a PC to attach a digital cassette cartridge are provided to utilize the digital cassette function on the on/offline, store a digital file to a digital cassette, and offer the viewer to the PC by linking with the driver for operating the digital cassette. CONSTITUTION: A CPU(30) discriminatingly controls the first mode printing print data transferred through the on/offline to paper and the second mode storing the print data to the digital file. A buffer memory(36) temporarily stores the print data for the second mode. A digital cassette controller(46) processes/transfers the data stored in the buffer memory to a print format to the CPU. A digital cassette memory(48) stores a print document transferred through the digital cassette controller in a digital file format.
