PURPOSE: A method for reducing the difference of image quality due to burn-in of a display device and an apparatus thereof are provided to process a selected protective region as a gray bar instead of a black bar, thereby relatively reducing the difference of image quality and reducing the amount of recognition of a user with respect to the difference. CONSTITUTION: A protective region setting member(102) sets a partial region among the entire screen, where the difference of the image quality caused due to burn-in will be reduced. An image buffering member(103) receives an analog image signal and provides the digitalized image information. A screen protective processing member(101) filters the image information of the protective region set by the protective region setting member with a predetermined function so that a gray bar effect or a gradation effect is displayed. An image outputting member(104) converts filtered image information into an analog image signal and then outputs the analog image signal.
