Cell research optimizing method for e.g. UMTS network, involves canceling maximum decision value if it is lower than threshold value and selecting maximum decision value from decision values obtained for scrambling codes

The method involves selecting a whole number of correlation points from correlation coefficients. A decision value whose maximum value corresponds to the start of slot of a cell associated to a scrambling code is calculated for each point. A maximum decision value is selected and is canceled if it is lower than a predetermined threshold value. A maximum decision value is selected from the decision values obtained for M scrambling codes. An independent claim is also included for a mobile terminal implemented in a method of optimizing the research of cells in a cellular telecommunication network.
