PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for driving the same are provided to generate gamma analog voltage for driving of high speed both at the highest gray scale value and at the lowest gray scale value, thereby realizing high speed driving at every gray scale values. CONSTITUTION: A modulator(58) modulates source data into modulation data set in advance. A gamma voltage generator(52) generates the first gamma voltage for speeding up the response speed of liquid crystals when the gray scale value of the source data coverts from a value lower than the highest value to the highest value and the second gamma voltage for speeding up the response speed of liquid crystals when the gray scale value of the source data coverts from a value lower than the lowest value to the highest value. A data driver(53) drives data lines of an LCD panel by converting the highest gray scale value into the first gamma voltage and the lowest gray scale value into the second gamma voltage.
