PURPOSE: An isochronous resource management system for an IEEE1394 network and a method therefor are provided to double-manage isochronous resources by an LIRMS(Local Isochronous Resource Monitoring Service) and a DIRMS(Distributed Isochronous Resource Management Service), thereby more exactly perceiving used states of the isochronous resources. CONSTITUTION: A DIRMS client(20) analyzes isochronous resources of each channel, and calculates used state information on the isochronous resources. A DIRMS server(10) integratedly manages the used state information on the isochronous resources as constant information. A DIRMS information request node(40) transmits a used state information request signal for the isochronous resources to the DIRMS server(10), and receives the used state information on the isochronous resources from the DIRMS server(10).
