<p>1333510 Barbituric acid derivatives ROUSSELUCLAF 17 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 58593/71 Heading C2C Novel barbituric acid derivatives of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> each are C 1-6 alkyl and salts thereof with organic or inorganic bases are prepared by reacting C 1-6 alkyl chloroformates with the appropriate 5-(m-aminophenyl)-5- alkylbarbituric acids. 5 - (m - Aminophenyl) - 5 - n - butylbarbituric acid is obtained by reducing 5-(m-nitrophenyl)- 5-n-butylbarbituric acid resulting from the nitration of 5-n-butyl-5-phenylbarbituric acid. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, parenteral or rectal administration, contain the above novel compounds or salts thereof and suitable diluents or carriers. The compounds possess anti-convulsant activity.</p> |
