PURPOSE: A device and a method for transmitting packets in accordance with priority are provided to divide packets supplied from the first port into plural blocks having the same size, thereby exactly transmitting the divided packets to the second port according to priority. CONSTITUTION: Plural port controllers(10,20) receive plural blocks divided in N byte unit from the first port, supply priority information by deciding priorities of the blocks, and service the blocks to the second port according to the priorities. A lookup unit(30) receives the blocks to generate a lookup table having source address, destination address, packet length, and MAC address information, and supplies information on the lookup table. A packet memory(50) stores the blocks. A queue manager(40) monitors a state of the packet memory(50) by exchanging information with the memory(50), generates block transmission signals and surplus block transmission signals, and provides state information. |
