SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY SETTING STATUS INFORMATION OF INSTANT MESSENGER OF PDA USING AP

PURPOSE: A system and a method for automatically setting status information of an instant messenger of a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) using an AP(Access Point) is provided to automatically set the AP information as the user status information in case that a user moves location by interworking between the instant messenger and a name of a connected wireless LAN AP. CONSTITUTION: The AP(200) has the name corresponding to each installation location. A presence server(300) transmits the changed user status information to the instant messenger of the user and the instant messengers of other users registering the user as a friend in case that the AP connected to the PDA(100) is changed. When the connected AP is changed, the PDA obtains the name of the connected AP and transmits the corresponding user status information to the presence server.
