PURPOSE: An HDD optimization method, a device and recording medium appropriate for the method are provided to periodically update parameters of an HDD in an idle state, thereby easily performing the optimization of the HDD. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. Parameters for optimizing an operation of an HDD are calculated(S602, S604). The frequency of continuous parameter calculations performed without errors is counted(S610, S612). In a case that the counted number is over a reference value, the values of the parameters applied to the HDD are updated with the values of the parameters obtained via the parameter calculating processes(S614-S624). The parameter calculating processes are performed in an idle state of the HDD.
