The procedure involves reducing or cutting off air supply to a heat engine on detection of laxity or interruption of activation of supply control unit (4) by an activation unit. The control unit controls air and fuel supply units (2,3). The air supply is cut off based on a comparison of engine speed with predetermined speed range. The engine is supplied with a mixture of air and fuel from the respective supply units. The engine presents higher levels of acoustic sound in the predetermined speed range. The activation unit consists of an accelerator (6). An independent claim is also included for device for reducing acoustic sound level of a heat engine.
