PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surveying instrument for reducing automatic collimation operating time. SOLUTION: The surveying instrument has a first collimating optical system for collimating a measured point, a surveying instrument body turnable about the vertical axis and the horizontal axis as centers, and a second collimating optical system mounted on the surveying instrument body and having a viewing angle wider than that of the first collimating optical system.
