PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual transmission for change-over between a direct-drive shift stage and an over-drive shift stage by operating a shift lever of a front-engine rear-drive vehicle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, wherein gear noises are prevented by allowing shift lever operation to execute shift via a simple link mechanism and a transmission housing to efficiently absorb thrust load on the output shaft of the transmission. SOLUTION: In the transmission 1, the shift lever 11 is operated in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle to move one hub sleeve 6e in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, thereby allowing change-over between the direct-drive shift stage and the over-drive shift stage. A flange portion 20 is provided on the output shaft 4 between a clutch hub 6a supporting the hub sleeve 6e and a sixth-speed input gear 19 arranged on the rear side thereof, and a fitting member 21 is arranged on the front side of the flange portion 20 between the side face on the rear side of the clutch hub 6a and itself.
