PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil/water separation apparatus and an oil/water separation method capable of effectively removing a solid matter and water from lubricant oil containing the solid matter and water. SOLUTION: The oil/water separation apparatus has a rough separation means by which the solid matter and water are partially removed from the contaminated lubricant oil used in a rolling process of ferrous or non-ferrous metal, a treatment tank unit with a hydrophobic membrane to which the roughly separated oil is supplied from the rough separation means, and a hydrophobic hollow fiber membrane element disposed in the treatment tank unit. The oil/water separation method includes a first separation process wherein the solid matter and water are partially removed from the contaminated lubricant oil by an oil/water separation treatment for the contaminated oil used in the rolling process of the ferrous or non-ferrous metal using a centrifugal separator, an oil/water separation tank, or a gravity precipitator, and a second separation process wherein the residual solid matter and water are partially removed by treating the roughly separated oil obtained in the first separation process with the hydrophobic hollow fiber membrane element disposed in the roughly separated oil.
