OPTICAL MOUSE, BAR CODE READING METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical mouse for precisely reading a bar code.

SOLUTION: The optical mouse comprises: an imaging part having a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements on one surface, a projection part for projecting an optical image of a surface to be read on a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements; and a charge reading part for continuously reading charges generated respectively by the photoelectric conversion elements to which the optical image is projected. The optical mouse further comprises: a reading control part for making the charge reading part read, in a bar code reader mode, the charges generated by the photoelectric conversion elements in a range narrower than in a mouse mode in a period shorter than that in the mouse mode; a conversion part for converting the charges read by the charge reading part to binary signals followed by outputting in the bar code reader mode; and a composition part for composing a bar code image displayed on the surface to be read with the binary signals continuously outputted by the conversion part.
