SCAN CONVERTING APPARATUS AND SCAN CONVERTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method in which progressive scan data can be converted into interlace scan data and/or an apparatus and method in which the interlace scan data can be converted into the progressive scan data.

SOLUTION: In the scan converting apparatus, interlace/progressive scanning is performed by one of at least two other techniques. The technique to be used is determined by the converted interlace scan data. For example, a spatial interpolation technique, a space/time interpolation technique or the other technique is selected. The scan converting apparatus and scan converting method is capable of generating the interlace scan data and the progressive scan data mutually synchronized for the purpose of simultaneously driving display devices for which mutually different scan systems are used.
