PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transport device, sequentially transporting sheet-like recording media at fixed intervals accurately. SOLUTION: A control device 53 conducts the control so that a subsequent sheet 12A(L) is transported at a high transport speed in a fixed timing on condition that a trailing end detecting sensor 69 disposed on a supply transport path 51 detects the trailing end of the preceding sheet 12A(F), and the transport speed for the detected sheet 12A is switched from high speed to low speed to transport the sheet in a fixed timing on condition that a leading end detecting sensor 63 detects the leading end of the sheet 12A, whereby the preceding sheet 12A(F) and the subsequent sheet 12A(L) are carried out accurately at fixed intervals.
