PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external-combustion engine in the form of a power engine which is operated by a thermal energy fed externally and capable of using a clean natural energy widely such as waste heat, solar heat, terrestrial heat, sea water temperature difference, etc. assuring a higher efficiency than a conventional Stirling engine system, solar cell, etc. and a very wide range of application. SOLUTION: The external-combustion engine is equipped with a heat absorption part and a heat radiation part provided in a sealed vessel which is filled internally with a fluid where the gas phase and liquid phase co-exist, a stationary bulkhead to partition the internal space, a first passage to generate communication of the bulkhead in the gas phase and a second passage to generate communication in the liquid phase, a rotary turbine having an impeller located in the first passage, and a rotary pump installed in the second passage, whereby the rotary turbine is rotated by the fluid energy of the fluid gasified when the heat absorption part is heated, and with the torque generated, the rotary pump is operated, and the fluid in the liquid phase cooled by the heat radiation part is conveyed to the heat absorption part.
