<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Chinese herb preparation having outstanding effect on the treatment and prevention of a new type pneumonia and cases with suspected or possible new type pneumonia, or provide a decoction for the new type pneumonia. <P>SOLUTION: The decoction for the new type pneumonia (SARS) is prepared according to a Chinese herb drug prescription. The herb drug of the decoction is composed of 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Ougon (root of Scutellaria baicalensis), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Kuchinashi (fruit of Gardenia jasminoides), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Kinginka (flower bud of Lonicera japonica), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of forsythia, 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Jiou (root of Rehmannia glutinosa), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of raw gypsum, 0.5-10 pts.wt. of aster flower, 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Kanju (rhizome of Dryopteris crassirhizoma), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Kikyou (root of Platycodon grandiflorum), 0.5-10 pts.wt. of peppermint, 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Goboushi (seed of Arctium leppa) and 0.5-10 pts.wt. of Kanzou (root of Glycyrrhiza glabra). These components are decocted to obtain the decoction.
