PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress lack of hiding possibly occurring along a boundary when the boundary is subjected to decimation in an image having the boundary of two different color regions. SOLUTION: The printer has a head for forming a plurality of color dots by ejecting a plurality of color ink drops toward a medium and can decimate dots to be formed at positions along a boundary or can replace the dots by smaller ones when an image having the boundary of two different color regions is printed by the dots. When the dots to be formed at positions along the boundary are decimated or replaced in one region, dots in the other region to be formed at positions adjacent, through the boundary, to the dots being decimated or replaced are not decimated nor replaced.
