摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic flash device small in size, light in weight, low in profile, low in cost and excellent in electric characteristics such as low power consumption, to provide its driving method, and to provide an electronic equipment such as a digital still camera in which the electronic flash device is incorporated internally or externally. SOLUTION: A flat sheet type film capacitor 5a is used as a capacitor in which discharge energy is stored, and a rectangular plate type lithium ion battery 20a is used as a power source, then they are superposed and arranged nearly in parallel with an electronic flash circuit board 10. The capacitor 5a is directly mounted on the circuit board 10 so as to share space with parts high in height, for example, a flash lamp 1, a spark coil 11 and a booster type oscillating transformer 22 without butting them. A current with which the capacitor 5a is charged is controlled in a pulse state so as to perform charging operation continuously before and after discharge and perform it intermittently in a standby state.
