HALF TOROIDAL CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half toroidal continuously variable transmission with a trunnion having simplified construction. SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission comprises the trunnion 110 having a spherical back face to be supported by a spherical seat 112a provided on a housing 112. The trunnion 110 is supported to be rotatable in the tilting direction by a link 114. The link 114 is rotatable in an offset direction following the circular arc of the back face of the trunnion 110. Thus, the housing receives the run-out force of a roller 124, and so various mechanisms can be simplified and four rollers can be arranged in a cavity between input and output discs.
