<p>1322855 Packaging; compressing refuse in vehicles J G FIGARI 24 June 1971 [16 March 1971 (2)] 29787/71 Headings B8C and B8E Wool, forage, garbage &c. is compressed into a sphere and enclosed within two hemi-spherical covers by one of the covers being held by the concave surface of an hydraulic ram movable in a press-chamber and by the other cover being held by a door located at the end of the chamber. The chamber wall comprises a perforated band to permit water to be expelled. A feeding box is mounted above the press chamber. The covers may be of tinned sheet or of a plastics and have flanges round their periphery to lock the covers together. Garbage may be fed directly to the press from individual flats, or the press may be located in a dust cart in which the compressed spheres may be stored in tiers. The garbage may be used to fertilize ground by the spheres being deposited on the ground and the covers rotting away.</p> |
