APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR CONTROLLING FANS TO MINIMIZE NOISE GENERATED BY THE FANS

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling fans are provided to minimize noise generated at a plurality of cooling fans by equalizing RPMs(Revolutions Per Minute) of the cooling fans with each other. CONSTITUTION: A power supply apparatus(12) supplies electric power to each part. A temperature sensor(10) senses temperature at the inside of an electronic device. A regulator(13) generates a constant voltage. A voltage variation unit(24) varies the constant voltage applied from the regulator. A cooling fan(14) is rotated by the voltage varied by the voltage variation unit. An RPM measurement part(26) measures an RPM of the cooling fan. A microcomputer(21) controls the regulator according to the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor and varies the RPM of the cooling fan according to the RPM thereof measured by the RPM measurement part.
