PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing a high resolution image in a mobile information device are provided to make it possible to display a still image of high resolution through the device by enabling an existing camera interfacer of low resolution to deliver the still image thereof to the device. CONSTITUTION: A digital camera module(200) captures and decodes an external still image in order to generate a still image of high resolution. A still image division module(210) divides the still image outputted from the digital camera module into the predetermined number of unit images, so that it forms a plurality of still images of low resolution. A camera interfacer(220) synthesizes the still images of low resolution. A memory(240) stores a still image synthesized by the camera interfacer. A microcomputer(230) controls the memory so as to store the still image and reads out it in response to an input key signal before outputting the still image to a display module.
