<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for controlling a brushless DC motor which reduces the torque ripple of the brushless DC motor generated at a phase commutation time, by compensating for the insufficiency of a phase current between phase commutation sections. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling the brushless DC motor includes a converter for converting an AC power into a polyphase AC power to be supplied to the brushless DC motor, a rotor operation detector for detecting the operation information of a rotor, and a controller for controlling so that an energization time point of the energizing phase current is advanced from a phase commutation time point by predicting the phase commutation time point of the polyphase AC power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
