<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment for treating organic waste in which the organic waste can be carbonized suitably in a carbonization furnace by hindering the organic waste from being exposed to high temperature which is raised to a carbonizing temperature or higher by the combustion reaction of a pyrolytic gas with outdoor air in a kiln and, and a method for treating the organic waste. <P>SOLUTION: The equipment 1 for treating the organic waste, in which the combustible pyrolytic gas is generated in the rotary kiln 6 of the carbonization furnace 2 as the organic waste is carbonized, is provided with an inert gas supplying unit for supplying an inert gas to the kiln 6 in order to restrain the outdoor air from intruding into the kiln 6. The inert gas supplying unit is a gas producer 4 for producing a combustion gas having 0% oxygen concentration by oxidizing the gas in the furnace 2 by a burner 11. The producer 4 is provided with a water spray 12 for supplying water to become steam in the furnace atmosphere heated by the burner 11 in order to supply the steam necessary for activating the organic waste to the kiln 6 together with the inert gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
