PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating and a method for forming a coated film, by which each time required for a preheating step and a cooling step is remarkably shortened and coating can be carried out in good productivity. SOLUTION: The water-based coating contains an anionic emulsion resin as at least a part of a coated film-forming component and further contains a heat-sensitive gelling agent, and gelling temperature of the anionic emulsion resin is 60-90°C. The method for forming the coated film comprises forming a primer coated film layer by applying an aqueous primer coating onto a material to be coated and carrying out preheating of applied coating, forming a base coated film layer by applying aqueous base coating onto the primer coated film layer and carrying out preheating of applied coating and forming a clear coated film layer by applying a clear coating onto the base coated film layer, and simultaneously baking the formed coated films of three layers. In the coated film-forming method, the aqueous primer and the aqueous base coating are each the same as the aqueous coating. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
