PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having a function that can prevent circuit components from being damaged and that can also protect the human body against injury, by arranging so that no super high voltage is applied to an anode cap, even if a power source is turned on when the anode cap is off from the anode of a cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: With the power source turned on, if no potential difference is produced between a grounding line G1 on a high voltage end and a grounding line G2 on a small signal end, a transistor 18 for detecting potential difference remains off. As a result, in a potential difference detecting means 22, no potential difference is detected; in a connection discriminating means 23, the anode cap 16 of a flyback transformer 6 is determined to be off from the anode of the cathode-ray tube 12; and, in a power source controlling means 24, the power supply to a high voltage circuit 1 is cut off.
