<p>Parent patent disclosed equipment for preforming and moulding particulate materials where material distribution was assisted by a fluidising gas introduced via the walls of the mould. Addn. describes use of a spinning cavity to effect the preforming of shapes of circular cross section. Pref. both the forming plug and the mould cavity are heated. Pref. the forming plug is also rotated. Pref. the cavity is one of several supported on barings in a matrix comprising a moving conveyor passing successive preforming and moulding/curing units. During preforming, each mould is temporarily engaged by a turning shaft beneath the conveyor. Process is esp. for moulding articles like flower pots or pallel supports. Centrifugal effects disperse agglomerates of resin impregnated particles and allow preforming of a wider distribution of particle size than use of stationary cavities holding material supported solely as a fluidised bed.</p> |
