PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detoxifying spent filter cloth, by which the spent filter cloth with a toxic substance such as dioxins stuck thereto and used in a filtration type dust collector can be detoxified by using simple equipment. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a microwave irradiating mechanism 2 for irradiating the inside of a box unit 4 with a microwave and a conveying mechanism 3 for conveying the spent filter cloth R used in the filtration type dust collector.
