SOLUTION: In this curved surface machining method, the rotation of a spindle 14 holding a workpiece 9, and the motion of Z-axis table 3, the slider 12 and an X-axis table 4 are synchronized with each other, and the Z-axis direction motion of the spindle 14 holding the workpiece 9, the Y-axis direction motion of the slider 12 provided with the cutting tool and moved by the linear motor 18, and the X-axis direction motion of the X-axis table 4, are synchronized with the predetermined prescribed rotating speed of the spindle 14 to cut a facing surface 31 of the workpiece 9 orthogonal to the Y-axis moving direction of the cutting tool 15, rapidly with high accuracy into a predetermined prescribed curved surface by the cutting tool 15.
