PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing apparatus in which a film entering into a heat development section is capable of maintaining adhesion to a heating drum in a process in which the film attains to a development temperature and development proceeds, and in which heat supply history is so uniform over the whole area of the film as to cause no density unevenness. SOLUTION: In the heat developing apparatus, a heat developable photosensitive material is heated and conveyed while being held by a heating drum comprising a cylindrical sleeve, a heater disposed within the sleeve and an elastic layer disposed on the outside of the sleeve and a plurality of counter rollers arranged opposite to the heating drum in such a way that they extend in the lengthwise direction of the drum. A deformed shape of a roller with a thick central part and thin ends in its axial direction is provided to a prescribed counter roller 16w among the plurality of counter rollers.
