PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compact the shape of left/right detecting rods of left/right direction sensors in relation to a direction controller of a combine harvester, etc. SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with the left/right detecting rods 6a and 7a arranged in the front and the rear for detecting grain culms from the left/right direction sensors 6 and 7 detecting both the left and the right sides of an interrow space of the grain culms planted in rows, steering a machine body 1a left and right and controlling the straight advance thereof. The left detecting rod 6a is provided in a position on the side opposite to raising up lugs 10c of a raising up apparatus 10 and overlapping with a rotation locus of the raising up lugs 10c. The right detecting rod 7a is installed on the side of the raising up lugs 10c and located at the front of the rotation locus. Each harness of the left/right direction sensors 6 and 7 is arranged in the lower side of a plate 5c provided in a frame pipe 5b of each grass divider 4.
