<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclic onium compound having glucosidase inhibitory activity similar or superior to well-known glucosidase inhibitors including salacinol, to provide a glucosidase inhibitor comprising the cyclic onium compound, and to provide antidiabetics or antidiabetic food containing the glucosidase inhibitor. <P>SOLUTION: The cyclic onium compound is represented by structural formula(I)( wherein, A<SP>-</SP>is an anion; m is an integer of 1-6; n is 0 or 1; X<SP>+</SP>is S<SP>+</SP>or N<SP>+</SP>Q, wherein Q is H or a 1-4C alkyl ).
