PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium player which has improved user-friendliness by carrying out the subtitle display and the voice reproduction with other languages not present on a recording medium, and also realizing the function to reproduce the voice with the language of three or more countries as the additive voices with respect to a still picture recorded on the recording medium. SOLUTION: The subtitle of a new language not present on an optical disk 11 is displayed by subtitle data in such a manner that the subtitle data in an external memory 17 being coincident with a stream ID number which is set at the side of player, are sent to a data decoder 15 when the stream ID number is added to the subtitle data in the external memory 17, and the subtitle data are read from the external memory 17 and sent to the data decoder 15 by adding the stream ID number not present on the optical disk 11 when the stream ID number is not present in the subtitle data in the external memory 17 and the stream ID number not present on the optical disk 11 is set at the player side.
