PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bleaching agent-encapsulated microcapsule which has an excellent bleaching effect and excellent transdermal absorbability, can inhibit coagulation and crystal growth with the passage of time, and is not colored, even when contacted with a metal salt, and to provide a skin care preparation for external use which is used for the skin, contains the bleaching agent-encapsulated microcapsules, and is suitable for cosmetics, medicines, quasi medicines, and the like. SOLUTION: The bleaching agent-encapsulated microcapsule encapsulating a bleaching agent is characterized in that the water content of the microcapsule is 60 to 97 mass %. An embodiment wherein a natural polymer is contained as the membrane-forming component is preferable. An embodiment wherein the bleaching agent is a compound having a functional group capable of forming a chelate ring from a metal and an intramolecular and intermolecular coordination bond is preferable. An embodiment wherein the bleaching agent is at least one of ellagic acid compounds, kojic acid, and rucinol is preferable.
