PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a forklift box, which reduces costs in introducing a forklift box and facilitates the transshipment of a transferred article. SOLUTION: The retainer comprises a base board 11 having supports 21, each of which has a bearing surface 21d capable of bearing the forklift box 1 on the top of the support 21 and a fork holding gap 23 for holding a fork 2 in the direction of its thickness. Each operating part 14 is arranged to project from the side of the support 21 that faces the fork holding gap 23 and be able to move back and forth. Each stopper 15 is provided to be able to move back and forth between a restricting position and a releasing position on the upper edge of the forklift box 1 placed on the supports 21. Each motion transmission member 16 is connected to the operating part 14 and to the stopper 15, and forces the stopper 15 to be at the releasing position when the operating part 14 projects from the side of the support part 21 that faces the gap 23 in a normal state, while to be at the constraining position when the operating part 14 moves back against an energy-applying force.
