PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide processed lumber having a function to remove harmful gaseous components and suited to be used as a material for construction or fittings. SOLUTION: The processed lumber Z is composed by attaching a chip charcoal consolidated body 3 obtained by consolidating chip charcoal 21 to plate or columnar lumber 1, 2. When a fitting or furniture, for example, is composed using thus composed processed lumber Z, a living environment clean and suitable for keeping human health is naturally attained without requiring any running cost because harmful gaseous components such as formaldehyde existing in a room space is efficiently adsorbed and removed by the adsorbing function of the chip charcoal 21 of the chip charcoal consolidated body 3. In particular, when fittings etc., are manufactured by combining the processed lumber Z and commercial plywood, the above effect becomes further prominent because harmful gaseous components such as toluene released from an adhesive in the plywood are adsorbed by the chip charcoal 21 and removed before diffusing into the room space.
