PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrotreating catalyst composition, which is, in a hydrotreatment of a hydrocarbon, especially a gas oil, excellent in desulfurizing property of a desulfurization-retardant compound in the gas oil and has a high desulfurization activity. SOLUTION: The method for producing the hydrotreating catalyst composition of the hydrocarbon is composed of adding a solution containing an active metal component to a porous inorganic oxide and/or a porous inorganic oxide precursor, kneading and molding them, and irradiating a microwave to moldings obtained by molding to dry.
