PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upward stream type filter capable of simply and certainly separating cleaning drain water and filtered water in the upward stream type filter collecting the filtered water and the cleaning drain water by a water-collecting trough. SOLUTION: The upward stream type filter is a device for supplying raw water to a filtering vessel (2) and collecting the filtered water in a filtering layer (22) by the water-collecting trough (6). Further, the filter is provided with a treated water conduit (3) in parallel to the filtering vessel (2) into which the filtered water flows from the water-collecting trough (6) and which is partitioned into a cleaning drain water conduit (7) and a filtered water conduit (8) in this order from the filter (2) side by a vertically installed partition plate (4) in the treated water conduit (3). A cleaning drain water valve (5) is installed in a cleaning drain water pipe (10) connected to the cleaning drain water conduit (7) and when the filtered water flowing into the cleaning drain water conduit (7) is collected is subjected to overflowing the partition plate (4) through closing the cleaning drain valve (5) and when a filter medium is cleaned the cleaning drain water is discharged from the cleaning drain water conduit (7) through opening the cleaning drain valve (5).
