<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of selecting a similar image used for substitution properly so as to sharpen an image surely and sufficiently when the image is sharpened using self-similarity. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing method is equipped with a candidate setting means which sets up a plurality of images most suitable for substituting local region images included in an original image, an evaluation means which evaluates the degree of substitution conformity of the above most suitable images on the basis of the comparison result of similarity and size to the local region images included in the original image, and a substitution means which substitutes the local region images with images which are evaluated as the ones most conformable to the local region images and generates images to output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
