PEAK AND BOTTOM DETECTOR OF BURST MODE OPTICAL RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit of a peak and bottom detector in which a charging time is shortened by adjusting the amount of currents to a peak and bottom value holding capacitor in accordance with the level of an input signal.

SOLUTION: The peak detector is provided with an amplifying terminal 210 configured to reduce an offset of a peak value in a burst signal; a transistor 220 which functions as a diode according to an output from the amplifier terminal; a capacitor 230 for charging the peak value according to the transistor; a signal amplitude detector 240 for monitoring the amplitude of the burst signal; and a current source 250 for driving a current in accordance with an output from the signal amplitude detector. The bottom detector comprises: an amplifier terminal configured to decrease the offset in the bottom value of the burst signal; a diode which is turned on according to an output from the amplifier terminal; a capacitor for charging the bottom value according to the diode; a signal amplitude detector for monitoring the amplitude of the burst signal; and a current source which is connected in parallel with the capacitor and drives a current responsive to an output from the signal amplitude detector.
