PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper transport apparatus, transporting a paper sheet with good accuracy even if a paper transport path is parted between units by detaching a transport unit. SOLUTION: In this paper transport apparatus, an upstream side unit 3 and a downstream side unit 5 provided to freely enter and leave in the direction intersecting perpendicularly to the paper transport direction are disposed on the paper transport path, a paper transport guide plate 9 is provided to guide a paper sheet transported from the upstream side unit to the downstream side unit, and a regulating member 15 abutting on the paper transport guide plate to regulate the position thereof is provided on the upstream side unit.
